Our Family Trip to Asia - Part Two

If you haven’t checked out Part One of our Asia trip, namely Top 5 Things To Do In Japan With Kids, then check it out now or after reading this blog.

As mentioned, one of my New Year’s goals was to take my two girls on an Asia trip so it’s been a lot of planning involved!

One of my favorite things to do in Asia is immerse myself in its delicious and authentic culinary culture - AKA, eat until my heart's content!

Here are a few standouts from the rest of our Asia trip in Singapore and Phuc Quoc.

Summer Pavilion at The Ritz-Carlton, Singapore

Situated at one of our favorite hotels is Summer Pavilion, an authentic Cantonese cuisine in an elevated setting.

This Michelin Star restaurant (for the 6th year in a row) did not disappoint - from the moon gate leading to a modern Chinese garden background, to the restaurant’s butler-style of service, to the refined menu.

We had to try the infamous Fish Noodles and it was delicious! Perfectly al dente in a bed of savory soup, this dish was a family favorite. We also enjoyed some

Yì by Jereme Leung

If you’re looking for an artistic experience with your meal, then look no further than Yì by Jeremy Leung, a Singaporean Master Chef. The decor is created to mimic a living room so that patrons can relax and feel at home while enjoying beautifully decorated dishes.

The flavors are spot on everytime! We enjoyed Seared Waygu, Crispy Pork Belly, Chef Leung Yangzhou Fried Rice, Taiwanese Style Beef Brisket Noodle Soup, Hokkaido Scallops, and finished it off with some Soursop Sorbet.

I can’t wait to go back and try more things on their menu!

Imperial Treasure Fine Teochow Cuisine (ION Orchard)

We don’t come across a lot of Teochow restaurants, so we decided to check out Imperial Treasure (note there are a few of them).

Decor is your traditional Chinese restaurant. Joe and I enjoyed the Braised Australian Whole Abalone in Oyster Sauce while the girls winced at the thought of it. We got the Australian Lobster (which was a hit), Wok-Fried Hor Fun with Sliced Angus Beef in Satay Sauce, Sautéed Kailan with Dried Fish, Sautéed String Beans with Minced Pork, and Pan-Fried Omelette with Radish and Diced Chinese Sausage.

Jumbo Seafood Singapore

Everyone in Singapore knows Jumbo Seafood! I feel like this is such a staple of this lively city.

I was craving their Chilli Crab, so I made sure we made a stop for that. Hands down the best in all of Singapore! This dish is a must if you ever find yourself here.

Jumbo Seafood is a solid choice, from their Calamansi Juice (super refreshing), to the Mee Goreng Malay Style, to the Shelled Prawns Fried with Golden Salted Egg.

Night Safari

I know this is not food, but we did the Mandai Night Safari and it was so amazing that I needed to add it to the blog!

There’s something about doing this excursion at night that seems more mysterious and magical.

The girls absolutely loved this, as did Joe and myself. This was such a unique experience that we will remember!

Bún Quậy Kiến Xây

Vietnamese food in Vietnam is on a whole new level. The food in this country is simply amazing, no matter where you go. The dishes ooze with authentic flavors!

We had stopped by Bún Quậy Kiến Xây and I will forever remember their Squid Noodle Soup.

The squid was so fresh, the noodles were perfectly chewy, and the soup broth tasted as if it’s been simmering for days! It’s a 10/10 and one of my favorite dishes in Phu Quoc!

Xin Chao Seafood Restaurant

This restaurant is a local favorite for its fresh and delicious seafood… and for good reason!

Scallops, fish, crab, you name it - they will surely make you want more with every bite. There are even tanks of live lobster, crab, fish, shrimps and shellfish.

While eating, we got to enjoy the gorgeous view of the ocean. If you plan it well, then this is a great place to watch the sunset!

Phu Quoc Night Market

We made time to stroll through one of the night markets in Phu Quoc. You can get a feel of local hustle and bustle experience by going to a night market (or a market during the day).

This is also a foodie’s paradise! There are many stalls selling a variety of delicious food, dessert places, juice/smoothie sellers, and vendors with a plethora of items for you to practice your haggling skills!

We got to try a little bit of everything, picked up some gifts and souvenirs, and enjoyed roaming around the marketplace. I highly recommend checking out one when you’re in Phu Quoc (or wherever you are).

Stays in Phu Quoc Paradise

So I also have to mention our beautiful stays in Phu Quoc!

We had the pleasure to stay at both JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa and Regent Phu Quoc.

JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa made us feel like royalty. The architecture and decor was reminiscent of a palace. This is a beach front property with plenty of amazing views of the colorful sky above the water. Kids love this place because there’s a ball pit!

Regent Phu Quoc is more modern luxury. Elegant lines and tasteful color palettes that whisks you away into a peaceful state, melting your stressors away. This is also a beach front property offering  gorgeous views of the vast ocean.

I am missing Asia already and hope that we can do another family trip out there. Let me know which of these spots were added to your Asia bucket list!
